The controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, whose NGO, Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) has been recently banned by the government accusing that the NGO was involved in various terrorist activities, has now said that he is ready offer his full cooperation towards any investigation by the Indian government. While speaking to a news agency over current issue of banning the NGO, Naik said, “I’ve repetitively offered my cooperation to governmental agencies in their investigations. Till a few days ago, no agency has bothered to contact me, ask me questions, send me any notice or even lodged  a FIR against me. Till date there was been no contact and the only FIR was lodged against me was done after the ban.” Naik has thrashed all the reports of he has a citizenship of Malaysia. He said that he was never banned in Malaysia and don’t have the citizenship of the country. He said. “The Indian media has repeated hundreds of times in the last four months that I was banned in Malaysia. Now it takes a somersault and says that I have been given the citizenship of Malaysia. How can a person, who is banned in a country, be given a passport of that country? Both these reports are absolutely false without any proof. I'm neither banned in Malaysianor do I have its citizenship.” Calling the ban against his NGO ‘unfortunate’ Naik has also alleged that the move of the ‘anti-Muslim’ BJP’s NDA government is fully politically motivated. He has also confirmed that the ban would be definitely be challenged in the court as soon as possible and his legal team in Mumbai as well as in Delhi are studying the case. Answering to a question about why he is blaming PM Modi for the ban and not the British PM Theresa May for banning him in the country, Naik Said, “I am not banned in the UK, I have been 'excluded', which means I cannot enter the UK. A ban would have meant banning my speeches on television, my NGO as well as my books, audio and video CDs. None of that has happened. My organization and my published materials are very much in circulation in the UK and doing some commendable work in spreading the message of peace in Islam.”

Rubbishing off the claims by Congress, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said, “Knowing the popular support to demonetisation, Congress has changed its tactics from calling for a countrywide bandh to Aakrosh rallies. It is clear that all this is aimed at finding space in the media as they have clearly lost out space in the debating forum of Parliament and the minds of the people.” The opposition parties have opposing the decision of notes ban due to government’s failure of doing adequate preparations before making the decision which resulted into the hardships faced by the common man.
